At Rio Delta Birding Tours, every outing is shaped by the rhythms of the Rio Grande Valley — its birds, its landscapes, and the stories that connect them. These guidelines help ensure a smooth, safe, and enjoyable experience for everyone who joins me in the field.

Travel Logistics

The adventure begins at the first meet‑up location, where I will welcome you, share the day’s plan, and set the tone for a relaxed, discovery‑filled outing. Tours operate in a caravan format, allowing you to travel comfortably in your own vehicle as we move between hotspots. This keeps the pace flexible and the experience personal.

Food & Drink

Birding days can be long, so I will keep you fueled:

• Complimentary water and light snacks are provided on full‑day and multi‑day tours.
• Lunch is on your own, and we’ll make a quick stop along the route for a bite before continuing to the next destination.
• If you have dietary needs, feel free to bring what works best for you.

Recommended Attire

The Valley’s climate is part of the adventure. To stay comfortable:

• Choose loose, breathable clothing suited for warm, humid conditions.
• A hat and comfortable hiking shoes are essential.
• During cooler months, light layers help you adapt as temperatures shift throughout the day.

Sun & Insects

We share the landscape with all kinds of life — some of it tiny and persistent.

• Sunscreen and bug spray will be available if you need them.
• Expect chiggers, and know that ticks and mosquitoes can be present year‑round.
• Long sleeves and pants offer extra protection without sacrificing comfort.

Date Changes

Life happens. If you need to adjust your plans, your $50 deposit can be applied to secure new dates, pending guide availability. I will work with you to find the best alternative.

Weather Cancellations

Your safety — and the quality of your experience — come first. Tours may be postponed or canceled due to:

• Persistent or heavy rain
• Lightning
• High winds
• Temperatures below 40°F

If I make the call to cancel, you may reschedule or receive a refund of your deposit.
